POSITION SUMMARY:

Avenue Consultants is growing our Phoenix office and seeking a Roadway Design Engineer. We are looking for a self-starter with a decent understanding of transportation engineering and modeling of rural and urban roadways.

JOB DUTIES:

• Utilize design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate road drainage design and ancillary road design elements including signage, striping, traffic signals, and utilities.
• Work in multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate the integration of roadway designs with other disciplines.
• Consult with and help provide guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding project requirements for various designs and modifications.
• Help ensure all projects comply with federal, state, and local regulations
• Attend transportation engineering conferences and seminars
• Familiarize yourself with Avenue and participate in our strategic planning and growth of the Arizona geography.
• Help acquire new contracts and clients by identifying opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field required
• 6+ years of relevant experience in transportation engineering

Skills

• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
• Desire to learn national design standards and ADOT’s standards
• Detail-oriented and self-starter; can work independently and in a team environment
• Desire to identify and solve complex problems
• Willingness to learn, provide feedback, and receive feedback
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Workfront, MicroStation, ProjectWise, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads is a plus
