Who We Are

Avenue Consultants is a multi-discipline engineering consulting firm specializing in transportation and traffic solutions. We believe in putting others we work with and their needs ahead of our own, treating our coworkers as valuable and respected clients. We don’t do job titles because we believe everyone should have an opportunity to grow. Our company mission is “Opportunity for our employees, Value for our clients.”

Our survey group maps areas and researches ownership boundaries in order to support transportation-related design, right-of-way services, and construction. Our work includes topography, Sonar, LiDAR, Drones, GPS Equipment, Levels, Total Stations, and other technologies in order to make highly detailed maps. We use technology as a force multiplier.

We’re looking for collaborative (not my-way-or-highway) team players who can serve in a part-time, paid-internship position. We have a preference for those who express interest in internships during the school year, but also for the summertime. We are flexible with our schedules.

What We Are Looking For

We are not looking for candidates with years of experience or particular course requirements, but we are hoping to cultivate learners in the field of surveying excellence. Ideally,

  • People who love to work indoors and outdoors, not afraid of hiking a lot
  • People who enjoy history, research, making really accurate maps
  • Strong interest in the discipline and/or are willing to take survey-related coursework
  • Interested in flying drones or driving cars with lasers on them
  • Interested in mapping related technologies

It would be nice for candidates to have prior knowledge of AutoCAD, photogrammetry, or MicroStation, but it is not necessary.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Can carry heavy physical loads
  • Enjoy working in potentially extreme environments (summer rain, fall, winter/snow, heavy winds, etc.)
  • Have strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Are self-starters (can work independently with minimal supervision/direction)
  • Reliable, dependable, and an eye for detail
  • Have a hunger to learn and understand
  • Are grateful, collegial, respectful, and kind to work with
  • Integrate well with our company culture
  • Like the way they look in a full-brimmed hat and sunscreen

What We Offer

Surveying is a historically male-dominated and aging profession and we are committed to seeing progress and diversity in that regard. There is great opportunity for rapid career growth, both from a diminishing pool of experienced surveyors and from a growing need for the services we provide.

By working with us, we can offer you:

  • Valuable career experience to launch you into a stable and growing profession
  • Career counseling and mentorship from licensed surveyors who have all worked in the leadership of the surveying community
  • Competitive pay with access to a community seeking to grow your opportunities and expand your skill sets
  • An office culture that integrates fulfillment with professionalism and fun
  • Work both in the office and out in the field, vital cross-training to address diverse project needs.
  • Experience with virtual teaming platforms and collaboration tools
  • Refrigerators stocked with soda
  • Acceptance for your ugly dog(s)
  • Experience with truly expensive toys
  • Flexible schedules and understanding your coursework commitments
  • Benchmark hunting excursions (basically a treasure hunt)
